3000 schoolgirls simultaneously performed the traditional dance "Kamajai."
Today, March 18, at the "QAZAQSTAN" athletic complex, over 3,000 schoolgirls from Astana simultaneously performed the traditional dance "Kamajai," setting a record for its largest-scale performance, according to the official website of the city administration.
The flash mob was held as part of the "Nauryznama" decade and was dedicated to National Clothing Day.
"Kamajai" is one of the most recognizable Kazakh folk dances. It conveys lightness, grace, and joy, and performing it on such a large scale is not only a spectacular sight but also an important step in preserving our culture. The girls demonstrated a high level of preparation, and we are proud of their work," said Rahat Tauirzhan, the creative director of the folk ensemble "SHASHU."
The flash mob ended on a bright note: spectators joined the dancing schoolgirls, supporting their rhythm and movements. Together, they formed a living pattern resembling a tulip flower.
Additionally, as part of the event, a national costume fashion show took place, where students from Astana colleges presented traditional Kazakh outfits.
It is worth noting that on March 14, Kazakhstan launched the "Nauryznama" decade dedicated to celebrating Nauryz Meyramy. Over the course of these 10 days, Astana will host more than 200 large-scale events in honor of the holiday, including concerts, exhibitions, performances, creative evenings, and much more.
