Recall, from March 4 to March 15, 2019, the World Classic Chess Championship will start in Astana, in which the strongest teams from 14 countries will take part. Such an event will be held in Kazakhstan for the first time in history.

The championship is held at the site of the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC), one of the goals of which is to improve the quality of human capital in Kazakhstan by forming a pool of international-level professionals from local specialists.

The tournament will play 20 teams - 10 men's and 10 women's teams from China, Azerbaijan, Iran, USA, Russia, Great Britain, India, Ukraine, Georgia, Kazakhstan and others. Among them are the current world champions, continental champions, 6 teams with the highest rating after the 2018 FIDE Olympiad, two teams from the host federation, as well as two teams appointed by the FIDE President.

The title of World Champion in the team competition is awarded separately for the men's and women's team.
