Today, May 7, the first city bike ride dedicated to the 71st anniversary of the victory of the Great Patriotic War took place. Today's bike ride marked the opening of the cycling season in Astana. A distinctive feature of the bike ride was that it was more widespread than previous years. The event was attended by over 2000 people.

The organizers of the event were the Kazakhstan Cycling Federation, the presidential sports club “Astana”, the akimat of Astana, JSC National Welfare Fund “Samruk-Kazyna”, the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Cycling in Kazakhstan continues to gain popularity, as evidenced by the large number of bike rides that take place in different cities of Kazakhstan.

It is noted that this action is aimed at attracting the population to active sports and a healthy lifestyle, promoting cycling as an environmentally friendly mode of transport, road safety, expressing appreciation and gratitude to the great feat of our veterans during the Great Patriotic War and will serve as the beginning of the 2016 cycling season of the year.
