Kazakhstan national team defeated by the Australian team
Kazakhstan's national team failed on its floor to take revenge on the Australian "boomers" in the penultimate Asian qualification match for the 2019 World Basketball Championship.
Before the final game window, the Steppe Wolves retained a chance for a ticket to the 2019 World Cup, but in order to do so in the remaining two games, they had to give it their best. But we should not forget that in the first game of our team, no one but the current champions of Asia, and in general the basketball nation - Australia, stood against them. In the FIBA ranking, Australians occupy a rather high 10th place in the world and 1st place in Asia. For comparison, Kazakhstan is on the 70th position in the world and 13th in Asia. Given this rating, the Kazakhstani team was far from the favorites in this match, especially since the Australians are the undisputed leaders in our group.
A couple of days before the game, the composition of the “boomers” for the game became known, and for our team it was a big plus that not the main Australian basketball stars arrived in Astana. However, even so, the Australians continued to be favorites in the match.
If we talk about changes in the composition of our team, then the main update in the team was Anthony Clemmons, who spent his first game for the team. One of the main players of the national team, Maxim Marchuk, was injured ankle a couple of days before the game and was not declared for this match.
