A press conference dedicated to the VIII Winter Universiade of Kazakhstan was held

Today, February 10, 2020, a press conference was held dedicated to the VIII Winter Universiade of Kazakhstan, organized by the National Scientific and Practical Center of Physical Culture of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From February 20 to March 20, the VIII Winter Universiade of Kazakhstan, dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of Abu Nasyr al-Farabi, will be held, in which about 1000 students will take part.

The Universiade of Kazakhstan will be held in 5 sports (winter Presidential all-around February 20-24 Ust-Kamenogorsk, curling February 26-March 7 Almaty, winter orienteering March 4-9 Ridder, biathlon and cross-country skiing March 14-20 Ridder) ...

At the end of the Universiade, athletes will be determined who will take part in the XXX Winter Universiade in Lucerne (Switzerland) from January 21-31, 2021.

Kazakhstan is going to take part in 10 sports at the World University Games. A trilateral agreement will be signed with the National Sports Center, sports federations and the National University Sports Federation of Kazakhstan on the selection of athletes for the World Winter Universiade through the Championships of the Republic of Kazakhstan in sports (snowboarding, skiing, freestyle, short track, figure skating, hockey).

“To increase the interest of students in the participation of the Gymnasiade and the Universiade, together with the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, work is being carried out to amend and supplement the rules for assigning sports titles, categories and qualification categories for registration with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan for awarding titles to athletes (MSMK, MS, CCM) ”, - S. Mustafayev noted.

In addition, physical culture teachers, together with the information and analytical center, are considering the issue of creating a base of sports results for students and teachers to receive a reward as a coach for the results of international competitions (Universiade, Olympics).

The Law "On Physical Culture and Sports" contains proposals to open children's and youth clubs in regional and city, district education departments.

Recall that in 2017, Kazakhstan held the Universiade among the CIS countries for the first time. Kazakhstan has been taking part in the Universiade since 1993. Over the years, 186 medals have been won (106 in winter, 80-year sports).

Also, in order to develop volleyball sports among students, determine the student team for participation in international competitions, develop cooperation and expand ties between sports clubs of universities, the NSPCFK MES RK organizes the "Kazakhstan Student League" in volleyball. The league consists of 5 rounds and is held according to the international rules of the FIVB. Stage I will start on February 23.
