Tynys Akanov: It was like living in a virtual world
It is clear that the situation with the coronavirus was not easy for anyone. Cyclists, in particular, usually felt its coolness. The competition was cancelled, charges are reversed, and even the workout in the street has been canceled (only at home). There was no possibility, everything was transferred to an online learning model. Gradually, we began to feel that we live in a virtual world, - says Tynys Akanov , senior mountain bike coach at the Olympic training Center. A qualified coach says that the situation improves over time. Now athletes train hard and try to recover. The full version of the exciting interview is below.
- How did the current situation (quarantine) affect your athletes? Please tell us in a specific, professional language, and not in words at all. (as in physical and psychological terms, what technique to train, and so on.)
- Indeed, the current situation has had a negative impact on our athletes, in particular. At first, it is not very noticeable. That is, for about 2-3 weeks, the children did not lose physical strength. But gradually, the quarantine still did its job. That is, our students began to weaken both physically and mentally. Of course, we do not interrupt physical training online. And there were no special exercises. We train professional athletes. So the latter is also very important.
- What is the current situation? How do athletes train? What's the plan? Then how long does it take to get into full form and take part in international competitions?
- Yes, the situation is relatively good now. After simplifying the quarantine procedure, our athletes set off and paid attention to their professional training. Everyone has an individual plan. Accordingly, they improve their methods and skills. It will take about 35-40 days to get to full readiness. Only then will they be able to participate in competitions.
- Do you know the competition schedule? Which flagship competition will you take part in before the end of 2020? Are you even participating?
- The competition Schedule became known recently. It should be noted that we decided not to participate in international competitions. And we go to competitions in the country. Including in October and November. On the one hand, he is able to control the situation of our children, on the other hand, to add new athletes to our ranks. In other words, the excellent students of the national championship should be accepted into the national team. We hope that real talents will not be ignored.
- What is the difference between home training and gym training?
- in this question I stopped above. If we say that training in the gym is excellent, of course. Why? Because the gym has special equipment. We train professional athletes. Therefore, the necessary load on each muscle should be given in the gym. But at home, this is not possible. Someone lives in a private house, someone in a multi-storey building. This affects your training in different ways. In addition, the athlete is very worried at home. They say they have a family and a job. Even timely and proper nutrition is important. All this leads to a loss of fitness.
- How did the quarantine affect you and other coaches? How did it affect your work? (Have there been any cuts or pay cuts?)
- Remote work was initially strange. Because this has never happened to us. But gradually we got used to it. Unfortunately, after the introduction of quarantine, all planned work has changed. We had to postpone all our goals. We started to feel like we were in a virtual world (laughs). Because constantly sitting on the Internet, we worked on special platforms. In addition, we had daily contact with the athletes and gave them the job. And there were no such problems as layoffs or layoffs.
- And now, on the contrary, was there any benefit from quarantine? What are the main features you would indicate?
- Quarantine has both disadvantages and advantages . We often don't stay at home. We go to training camps or competitions for months. During the month, we go to training camps or competitions. Accordingly, we are not near our family or relatives. During the quarantine, this side improved. In other words, we were close to our family and children and paid more attention to them. In addition, the quarantine opened up the possibility of self-development. In other words, in our free time, we searched for various materials and improved our professional skills. Participated in special courses. We even set aside some time to study English.
